Script Writer

I think a mistake a lot of people make is they think they have to write all of the script on a computer (early drafts im talking about here !!) , doing it that way i find i get stuck and i know others do as you try and force yourself into a routine, ie sitting at the screen must write.

I wrote the early drafts of my feature and most of my scripts on whatever i can when ever i can , re it be backs of comapny memos to food packaging. most important thing when starting off is to get teh ideas down, then when you get to your later drafts start worrying about formats and stuff. or get yourself a Joe Pritchard :-)

Again use Word. Its easy to adjust the positioning of the text using the markers on the ruler at the top of the screen. You can do manually what screenwriting software does for you by finding out the standard way to format a script. That's all fine and stuff, and I understand formatting fine. I used to use word, but I do not have the kind of money to go out and by it. I'm cheap. Plus I was looking for something similar to the online "script buddy", which formats it for you.

Do any of you folks know a good computer program that can be downloaded that is good for writing a screenplay?

How about...
"WORD"?
"Notepad"?

Any old word processor should do to type it!

The ideas should come from within, your ideas and feelings, not some dodgy computer programme designed to write scripts.

It's not gonna be easy.

For my feature spec script i formatted the whole thing on Screenforge. It's a template for word that auto formats for you. You do need to have the knowledge of screenformatting to use it but it saves alot of time and money (if you were thinking of buying Final Draft)

There is a free download program Screenplay v2.1,at www.Livingspirit.com it is in the software section.
I have downloaded it and it works perfectly,
you will need to have microsoft word, to run it, and turn on the Macro's.
